Day 8: January 13, 2025

Updated: Jan 15

Good Places Don’t Last Forever

Devotional:

Peter’s desire to remain on the mountaintop during the transfiguration reflects our human tendency to cling to moments of joy, clarity, and spiritual high. However, these "good places" aren’t permanent—they’re meant to equip us for the work ahead. Life’s mountaintop moments are temporary glimpses of God’s glory that prepare us for the challenges of the valley. The transfiguration revealed Christ’s divine nature, but the disciples were called to return to their mission. We too must move forward, carrying the lessons of those moments to fulfill our assignments.

●      What "mountain-top experiences" have you had with God?

●      How have these experiences helped you during challenging times?

Scripture:

"Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, 'Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.'"

Matthew 17:1-4 (NKJV)

Prayer:

Lord, help me understand that while spiritual high points are beautiful gifts, they're meant to prepare me for the journey ahead. Give me wisdom to carry the lessons from these moments into my daily walk with You. Amen

Call to Action:

Reflect on a recent spiritual high or moment of clarity. Write down the lessons you learned and how they can help you face current challenges.
