Stay Connected
Devotional:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me.”
John 15:5-8 (HCSB)
For twenty-one days you have intentionally pursued closeness with God. You’ve prayed and listened more carefully. You have quieted distractions and made room for His presence. The invitation to seek Him daily still stands.
Jesus doesn’t want us to visit Him occasionally, or come when we want something. He calls us to abide. To remain. To dwell. To sink deeper in. Abiding means staying connected beyond a season of heightened discipline. It means building daily life around ongoing relationship.
Some of us have heard clearly from God during this fast. Others are still waiting. Both responses are from God. Stay close. Thank Him for what He has revealed. Trust Him with what is still unfolding. Fruit comes from staying connected to the Source. In the same way, lasting change will not come from the intensity of these twenty-one days alone, but from continued dependence on Christ.
This fast has shown you what closeness feels like. Now your responsibility is to protect it. Build on what you started. Carry forward the habits of praying, studying Scripture, attentiveness, obedience and gratefulness. The fast is over, but remain rooted. Abide.
Reflect
What practices or rhythms during this fast helped me feel most connected to God, and how can I carry them forward?
One Step Forward
Choose one habit you developed during this fast (Scripture reading, prayer, quiet time, journaling, gratefulness) and commit to continuing it beyond today as an act of abiding, not obligation.
