The Church Belongs to God
Devotional:
Jesus made it clear that His house is sacred and designed for prayer, healing, and worship. Yet, in His day, it had become a place for personal gain. The same warning applies today: church should not be about our preferences or agendas but about glorifying God and serving His people. When we forget that it’s His house and His rules, we risk missing the heart of God and hindering others from finding Him. The church exists to glorify God, provide hope to the broken, and nurture believers in their faith. Let us realign our hearts and actions to reflect the reality that the church is His house, not ours.
Scripture:
"Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He said to them, 'It is written, "My house shall be called a house of prayer," but you have made it a "den of thieves."'" - Matthew 21:12-13 (NKJV)
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for times I've treated Your house casually or forgotten its sacred purpose. Help me remember that every time I enter Your house, I'm stepping onto holy ground.
Call to Action:
Spend time reflecting on your role in the church. Are your actions contributing to God's mission or personal gain? Commit to one way you will serve with a focus on God’s glory this week.
