It's Time to Just Start!

The most effective way to accomplish anything is to begin.
That sounds simple. Almost too simple. But most of the time, the barrier between us and spiritual growth isn’t Theology; it’s hesitation.
Most people don’t have trouble believing the Bible. They struggle with getting started.
The Bible can seem overwhelming, ancient, and complex. Sixty-six books were written over centuries by different authors and in various genres. It can feel like trying to drink from a firehose.
This is when the questions begin:
Where do I even start?
Should I read it all the way through?
Should I begin in Genesis?
I’ve never been consistent. How can I start now?
What if I don’t understand it?
What if I’m already behind?
My first practical tip I discussed in my, How to Read the Bible video is simply: Just start.
There’s a hunger in the Body of Christ right now and a real desire to hear God clearly. I meet people every week who say, “Pastor Q, I’m praying… I’m reading… but I still don’t know if it’s God or just me.”
Don’t wait until you feel ready. Don’t wait until you have a perfect plan. Don’t wait until you understand everything. Clarity doesn't come before commitment. It comes after.
If you want a starting point, begin with the Gospels. You cannot go wrong starting with Jesus.
Let me say this clearly: start small. Focus on one chapter for ten to fifteen minutes. Tackle one section at a time. Prioritize quality over quantity. Choose movement over mastery. You don’t need to conquer the entire Bible; you just need to open it.
Sometimes we believe we need complete understanding before we start, or that we need a year-long reading plan. We think we must “catch up” for lost time. But if we want to grow in our relationship with God, we have to hear directly from Him. The only way to do that is by reading His word.
Read slowly. Ask questions. Write one thing that stands out. Pray one simple prayer in response. Then come back tomorrow.
Spiritual maturity is developed through daily steps, not sudden leaps.
If you have never been consistent, today can be day one. If you have stopped, today can be your restart.
Let’s build some momentum together. Let’s normalize beginnings. Let’s encourage each other with what we are learning.
You’re not behind. You’re not disqualified. You're just one open Bible away from drawing closer to your Creator!
Your Next Step
Comment below and tell us where you are starting.
Are you beginning in John?
Are you diving into Mark?
Are you praying through Psalms?
Write it in the comments: “I’m starting in ______.” Let us encourage one another!
